TODAY: ECON-LIBE meeting on money laundering blacklist: invitation to webstream

Dear correspondents,

For the first time since the restrictions imposed due to the Corona crisis, a working session of the European Parliament’s Economic and Monetary Committee will be held today from 14 to 15h (CEST) by video conference. The Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs will take part in the meeting. The EU Commission will also be represented.

On the agenda is the EU list of high-risk third countries. The Commission’s draft for a new methodology for identifying “high-risk third countries having strategic deficiencies in their regime on anti-money laundering and counter terrorist financing”. We MEPs will ask the Commission critical questions on this. In the past, the list has been rejected by the Council and the European Parliament for different reasons.

The session can be followed here via web stream (14 – 15h CEST): https://multimedia.europarl.europa.eu/en/econ-libe-committee-meeting_20200415-1400-COMMITTEE-ECON_vd

With green European greetings,
Sven Giegold
