Lord Hill refuses to provide answer on his lobbying past

Following the first hearing of Lord Hill, commissioner-designate for EU financial market affairs, the European Parliament´s Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee (ECON) had invited Hill to a second exchange of views. Prior to this meeting on Tuesday, 6 October (13:00 – 14:30), the ECON Committee had also sent a list of written queries to Hill. Just now, Hill has sent his answers on 26 pages.

Sven Giegold, Greens/EFA economic and finance spokesperson, commented:

“It’s a shame that Lord Hill has refused again to provide answers on his past lobbying activities. He’s not a credible commissioner for financial market affairs, if he doesn’t reveal for which financial services companies he or his PR firm worked .In the second meeting with Hill, we Greens will insist on an answer on this particular issue.”
