Dear friends and colleagues,
The Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee (ECON) of the European Parliament has published a report on measures of how to enhance the coherence of EU financial services legislation. The ECON Committee held a public consultation on that topic in 2013 and the resulting conclusions and intended steps are presented in the report.
One major complaint is that the regulations are not coherent, since some existing regulations overlap or contradict each other. Another field of improvement is the coordination of the Commission both inside and between Directorate Generals.
Overall this document points out key legislative steps that the ECON Committee would like to make in the near future.
