Dear colleagues, dear friends,

Far too often we are discussing about Greece rather than with Greece. Next Wednesday, we have the opportunity to listen and discuss directly with the widely respected Greece’s minister of finance Euclid Tsakalotos during one of my online-discussion events Europe Calling (Webinar).

After years of bad news, good news are coming from Greece. The treasury is running a surplus and even the European Commission applauds Greece for the progress it made and the positive outlook. Even the fight against tax evasion is advancing. Nevertheless, unemployment and poverty remains at unacceptable levels following years of austerity and misguided reforms.

To discuss the austerity and reforms in Greece, I am delighted that Euclid Tsakalotos, Syriza’s Minister of Finance will join me for the next event in my online discussion series “Europe Calling” on Wednesday, 20 December 2017 at 7 pm. Starting his current term in office in 2015, he oversaw large parts of the tax reforms initiated as a result of the financial crisis. He will report first hand about the progress Greece has made and any challenges that still remain to be overcome.

Registration is technically required, so please register below now to not miss out.

I would appreciate a lot to discuss with many of you! Also, I would be grateful if you could help distributing the invitation. As there is no limit of space, please make as much advertising as possible.

With Green European wishes,

Sven Giegold

What is Europe Calling?

“Europe Calling” brings together hundreds of people all around Europe! Everyone is free to take part from one’s home or office via computer, smartphone or landline. The speakers can be seen and listened to in a video window and interact with the audience like in a normal room. You can ask your questions via an online chat or get directly involved by posing questions and statements via your microphone.

Taking part is simple. After registration at https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/7509547157377187075 you will receive a personalized link that leads you to the webinar, once we have switched it on at about 6.45pm on the day of event. If you are joining for the first time, a small software is installed and you will be able to join in no time. In the confirmation email, you will also find a telephone number and pin that will allow you to dial in without an internet connection.
