This Wednesday SOS MÉDITERRANÉE will be honored with the 2016 European Citizen’s Prize to award their life saving in the Mediterranean Sea. SOS MÉDITERRANÉE has been sailing the Mediterranean Sea aboard its ship, the Aquarius, since February 2016, saving more than 4’600 people from distress at sea.
To honour the work of SOS MÉDITERRANÉE we invited captain Klaus Vogel, President and founder of SOS MÉDITERRANÉE, to tell us his personal experience. Captain Klaus Vogel will present pictures taken aboard the Aquarius which provide a moving testimony to SOS MÉDITERRANÉE’s mission and the reality of those fleeing. Afterwards you will have time to ask your own questions directly to the captain. Earlier the same day, Arne Lietz (S&D) and I will launch the SOS Parliamentary Support Group.
Please, feel warmly invited to both events.
