What role for the social economy in the economic and social recovery? Join the Webinar on Tuesday 2 June 2020, from 3pm to 6pm!

Dear interested,

Dear friends of the Social and Solidarity Economy,

The new European Commission has started with a promise to the Social and Solidarity Economy: it will come up with a new European Action Plan for the Social Economy. After 5 years of standstill during the last Commission this is a great chance to improve the conditions for enterprises of the social and solidarity economy. The new and enlarged multiannual financial framework (MFF) presents a second opportunity to boost the sector. This webinar will bring actors from the social economy together with the new EU Commissioner Nicolas Schmit who is responsible for drafting the new Action Plan. Equally the Spanish Minister for Labour and Social Economy Yolanda Díaz will contribute to the debate. But, most importantly we want to hear from you: What has to become part of the action plan for the social economy.

The joint webinar “Co-designing the European Action Plan for the Social Economy – a leverage for the economic and social recovery of Europe” will take place on:

Tuesday 2 June 2020, from 3pm to 6pm.

The working languages are English and Spanish.

The joint webinar is organised by the Social Economy Intergroup of the European Parliament in cooperation with Social Economy Europe and hosted by Sven Giegold MEP, Intergroup co-chair, and Patrizia Toia MEP, Intergroup co-chair.

I am personally delighted to see a new chance to get things moving for the social economy in Europe. It was former internal market Commissioner Michel Barnier who successfully realized the “Social Business Initiative”. Now, we need the Social and Solidarity Economy more than ever. It can create employment and cater for customer needs without an inherent motive for endless growth and profits. Such businesses can make a contribution to Europe’s Green Deal to protect the climate, biodiversity with economic means.
