Dear colleagues and friends,
In May this year, the Commission presented its proposals for the next multiannual financial framework (MFF 2021-2027). I have been appointed as rapporteur of the European Parliament for the Fiscalis report. With only 8 months to complete the MFF before the forthcoming European elections in May 2019, there is little time left to negotiate the key points in detail.
Fiscalis is an EU cooperation programme enabling national tax administrations to create and exchange information and expertise. 270 million euros are set to be spent from EU funds between 2021 and 2027. This will help Member States‘ tax administrations to detect and combat tax fraud and aggressive tax avoidance. It will enable the joint development and operation of major trans-European IT systems and the establishment of networks by bringing together officials from all over Europe.

I would be very pleased if all those who have specific comments on this important programme could send them to us by Sunday, 2 September 2018. Above all I am happy about suggestions for improvement. The deadline for preparing my report on the Commission proposal is 17 September.
