Dear friends and colleagues,
In 2011, Dr. James Glattfelder of ETH Zurich developed a model with which he could demonstrate that 40% of the global economic power of corporations is concentrated in just 147 companies. His latest research shows how vulnerable these „global players“ are to crises and how severe the risk of an infection of the worldwide economic system is. The interconnectedness of the entities dominated by large asset managers does not only matter for competition but also raises concerns regarding financial stability and our model of a social market economy with its co-determination. In order to discuss these issues, we are inviting you to our conference where Dr. Glattfelder will present his latest research. He will be joined by Dr. Jan Fichtner, researcher in the University of Amsterdam’s CORPNET project. Dr. Fichtner focuses on the rise of very large passive asset managers, such as BlackRock and Vanguard, and their impact on corporate governance.
