Dear correspondents,
During the next plenary session in Strasbourg, the European Parliament will vote on the final reports of the Committee of Inquiry into Money Laundering, Tax Avoidance and Tax Evasion (PANA).
On PANA Committee level the votes on “the draft report on the findings” and on “the report on recommendations” took place on 18 October. It set out a strong agenda for defeating money laundering and tax dodging, including many Greens/EFA proposals. However, conservative and liberal MEPs are expected to put forward amendments to “the report on recommendations” which will water down the scope of further political action. For that reason, we’ll host a press breakfast to look at the main successes of both the findings and recommendations reports and the areas of conflict for the plenary vote on December 12.
Greens/EFA members of the inquiry committee Eva Joly, Molly Scott Cato and Sven Giegold will host the press breakfast on:
When: Thursday 7th December at 10:30
Where: In the Members’ Restaurant of the European Parliament (ground floor ASP building)
Please send an eMail to david.weir@ep.europa.eu if you wish to participate.
Best wishes,
Sven Giegold
